Advising Sessions

The advisor is a conversational AI that answers strategic questions about your business. Unlike a generic AI chat tool, it is context-aware — it draws on your accumulated health checks, forecast insights, and business facts built up over time.

Starting a session

  1. Go to Business → Advising Sessions in the navigation
  2. Click New Session
  3. Optionally link a completed Business Health Check — the advisor then has your full SWOT grid and next steps in front of it and can discuss specific findings directly. Without a linked health check, the session works from your general business memory and anything you describe in chat
  4. Click Start Session — starting a session costs nothing; each message you send draws credits from your monthly subscription pool

Tip: Running a Business Health Check first gives the advisor richer context and generally produces sharper answers — but it's not required. You can start talking and the advisor will ask for context as it goes.

Asking questions

Type your question and press Enter or click Send. The advisor responds in real time — you will see the text appear as it is being written.

Good questions to ask:

  • "Which of our weaknesses is most urgent to address?"
  • "Our revenue is flat but costs are rising — what should we prioritise?"
  • "What would you do first if you were running this business?"

Follow-up chips appear after each response — suggested questions you can click rather than type.

Message balance

Each message costs 2 credits from your monthly subscription pool — the same pool shared with Business Health Checks, Forecasts, and Decision Tests. A counter in the chat shows your remaining balance and turns amber when you are running low.

When your balance reaches zero, the chat input is disabled until your next renewal — or buy a fixed-price credit top-up any time from Account → Billing. Past conversations always remain readable.

Resuming a previous session

Sessions never close. You can return to any past session from the Advisor list and continue the conversation. The advisor's context is rebuilt fresh each time, so it always has your latest business intelligence — including any new health checks or forecast data added since you last chatted.

Stopping a response

If the advisor is mid-response and you want to stop it, click the Stop button. The partial response is saved and you can ask a follow-up immediately.

Left sidebar

While chatting, the sidebar shows:

  • Business Facts — key facts extracted from your previous runs. These inform how the advisor understands your business.
  • Next Steps — open actions from your health checks. You can update the status of any action (Open, In Progress, Complete, Dismissed) directly from this panel.

Testing a decision from a session

Any advisor response can be turned into a full Decision Test. Click the ▶ Play it out button that appears below a response to open the decision panel. Describe the decision or change you are considering, choose a time horizon, and click Run. See the Decision Tests help page for full details.

Downloading a transcript

Once a session has messages, a Download PDF button appears. This exports the full conversation, including business facts and next steps, as a branded PDF.
